Dermaplaning

WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?

DERMAPLANING IS A PHYSICAL EXFOLIATION

THAT INVOLVES USING A MEDICAL SCALPEL TO

REMOVE THE OUTER LAYER OF DEAD SKIN CELLS AND VELLUS HAIR. IT IS A SAFE AND SIMPLE PROCEDURE SUITABLE FOR MOST SKIN TYPES.

BY REMOVING THE OUTER LAYER OF SKIN AND VELLUS HAIR, THE SKIN NO LONGER LOOKS DULL AND INSTEAD HAS A GLOWING COMPLEXION.

THIS TREATMENT CAN ASSIST WITH SCARRING AND FINE LINES BY 'BUFFING THEM OUT OVER TIME AS IT HELPS TO IMPROVE SKIN TEXTURE.

DERMAPLANING CAN ALSO PREVENT

CONGESTION AS IT REMOVES DEAD SKIN THAT CAN BECOME TRAPPED IN HAIR FOLLICLES.

What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?

  • Improves skin texture

  • Improves the appearance of acne scars and fine lines

  • Promotes cellular proliferation

  • Removes dead skin cells & vellus hair

  • Gives a flawless base for makeup applications

  • Brightens complexion

  • Increases skin care products absorption and potency

DOES THE HAIR GROW BACK THICKER?

Dermaplaning does not make the hair grow back darker or thicker.

The vellus hair will grow back to its original colour and thickness. This is because the blade used in dermaplaning cuts the vellus hair at its midpoint and does not affect the hair follicles/roots.

How often can Dermaplaning be done?

This treatment should only be performed a minimum of every 4 weeks to ensure that the client's skin is not over-exfoliated. The older the client is the longer they will have to wait between appointments as their skin cell turnover will start to slow down.

Dermaplaning VS. Shaving

Dermaplaning is NOT shaving.

Dermaplaning blades cannot remove terminal hair such as beards.

Unlike razors, dermaplaning uses a singular sterile blade.

Razors typically have from two up to five blades stacked.

You could use a razor every day to remove hair.

A dermaplaning treatment should not be undertaken any sooner than 28 days apart.

Dermaplaning is a skin rejuvenation treatment.
